DEAN MOSHER: AMERICA’S HISTORICAL ARTIST
Artist and author Dean Mosher has had a fascinating life to date. He has major artworks in many of the nation’s prominent institutions. He has sailed in tall ships, fired cannons, climbed to the masthead under sail, and flown in a vintage Wright Flyer. He has taken a documentary crew to the heart of the Amazon and climbed mountains in the Andes, adventured in Mexico, had a private tour of the White House, and met and talked with some incredible people, including Neil Armstrong, Shelby Foote, and Jeremiah Denton.

Mosher witnessed historic trials as a courtroom artist working for NBC, watching Morris Dees take on the insidious Ku Klux Klan and win. He has welcomed famous authors, U.S. senators, Congressmen, Admirals, and other celebrities to his handmade castle, which has been featured on national television and in media around the world. His community service has helped create parks, built a museum and auditorium classroom building, helped enforce environmental standards, and helped raise millions for education.

Mosher has worked closely with many of the world’s leading scholars, historians, and technical experts. He is often sought out for lectures and presentations around the country and was the first Naval Heritage Lecture presenter for the Surface Navy Association at its Annual National Symposium in Alexandria, Virginia, in 2004 followed by with two more presentations on a later date.

He served for five years as Historian General of the Naval Order of the United States and received the Commander General’s medal for saving the organization’s archives.

His proudest achievements are winning the hand of his wife of over 35 years, Pagan, and the raising of their two great children, Megrez Ravel and Cleveland Turner, who are the third generation of professional artists in the family. Mosher lives and works in his hand-built castle home and studio in Fairhope, Alabama, which has been featured on HGTV and the Ananda Lewis Show.
